1910 Hudsons Bay Company Catalog on CD
Hudson's Bay Company is the oldest commercial corporation in North America and is one of the oldest in the
world. The company was incorporated by British royal charter in 1670 as The Governor and Company of Adventurers
of England trading into Hudson's Bay, it is now domiciled in Canada.
One aspect of the company's operations was the Hudson's Bay Company Stores, trading posts that were established
across northern Canada. Today, this is the only part of the company operation remaining, in the form of
department stores under the name The Bay. The first department store opened in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1881 (this
building is considered the flagship store). Others soon followed. Many Hudson's Bay Company stores were, until
quite recently, the only stores in remote towns.
We offer the HBC 1910 catalog on one easy to view CD. 256 pages of beautiffully illustrated pages, offer all
types of fashion wear and soft goods. Unlike Sears or Eatons, the company did not offer furnishings, housewares
or hardware in their early days. The catalog is devoted to mainly to clothing, carpets, otdoor goods and a very
few luxury items.
