A magnificent collection of thirteen {13} rare books from the late 19th century on the art of coaching. First is the Art of Carriage Driving written in 1894 by Edwin Howlett. Howlett was considered an expert in the field of coaching, and in fact he drove the carriages of royalty.
He was very highly regarded, and according to the book once gave over twelve hundred lessons in a year. The book provides, clear and explicit instructions on carriage driving, and includes many line drawings and photographs.
Also included is the 1891 publication - Old Coachman's Chatter, with some practical remarks on driving, over 340 pages of coach history, gossip, tips and lessons regarding the art of coaching and carriage driving in general.
Every topic relating to driving horse-drawn carriages is discussed in detail. Many of the books are beautifully illustrated, and contain thousands of pages of information.
