Historic American engineering company famous for its winches, scrapers and cranes, including those that helped build the Panama Canal, Hoover Dam, Chicago Drainage Canal, Green Canyon Dam and the Shasta Dam.
In the early days, the basic products of the Lidgerwood Manufacturing Company consisted of simple hoisting machinery that were primarily steam-operated. As time progressed, activities expanded, and various types of hoists and winches were built for use on board ships, in mines, quarries, railroads, and for general industrial purposes. Lidgerwood then become involved in the design and manufacture of a system known as the Overhead Cableway.
