Railway surgery was the medical specialty devoted to caring for railway employees, and sometimes the passangers. Railway surgeons provided a wide range of care including trauma care and occupational health services. This handbook provides a brief discussion of the everyday injuries a surgeon may be confronted with in 1899.
Apparently their was no official training program to become a qualified railway surgeon, but this book was recommended reading on the subject..... Ouch!
