Vintage Grocery Advertising & Price Catalogs on DVD
The grocery store we know of today are descended from trading posts, which sold not only food but clothing, household items, tools,
furniture, and other miscellaneous merchandise. These trading posts evolved into larger retail businesses known as general stores. Mailorder was
a popular means of merchandise distribution in the early 1900's, some of the larger department stores such as Sears, Eatons and Montgomery ward
offered various products both in their retail stores, but also via mail order.
While these facilities generally dealt only in dry goods such as flour, dry beans, baking soda, and canned foods. You could also find a
few luxury items like tobacco products and even engine oil in some of these catalogs. All items easily shippable by mail or rail transport.
